Beauty as an act of resistance
You’ve no doubt already guessed – for your eye is keen – that the themes of our exhibitions share a secret common thread. In 2026, Galerie Koronin has chosen to invite you into the intimate world of the artists. So, having explored how artists represent themselves through their objects, their surroundings or their own faces, our June exhibition lifts the veil on their emotional world.
This theme is all the more dear to us because a wonderful bond has formed, right before our eyes, between several of our resident artists: Hugo Eckener, Luca Hartmann, Valaine de Ranson, Ayla Woss, Isabelle Morin, Marie Isabelle, Vestara Psod, Stéphanie Perrot, Anja Dallenbach, Anya Katarina Sokolova-Gassner and Artemis Irenäus von Baste.
At the table of Neo-Folklorism
In line with this, forging deep links between France (Paris), Germany (Munich), Austria (Klagenfurt) and Switzerland (Chur), this collective of friends has, over the months, become the gallery’s true creative driving force. It was, in fact, at the heart of these passionate exchanges that the pictorial movement of Contemporary Neo-Folklorism was born, which we proudly showcase on our pages.
This human journey only serves to strengthen the precious bond between the gallery and its artists. It is a group that came together naturally, through shared interests and a love of art, and we sincerely hope that other artists will join them to continue these exchanges of letters and shared journeys.
The artists in our collective
It is precisely in this spirit of sharing that, for this June exhibition, the gallery is delighted to welcome Valaine de Ranson, Ayla Woss, Tupsa Katsiaryna Viatcheslavet and Hugo Eckener.
🎨 Valaine de Ranson – The model friends
Oil on canvas
Step inside the studio’s inner sanctum. In this masterful work, Valaine de Ranson chooses to reveal herself – both literally and figuratively – by placing herself at the centre of the composition. Furthermore, she is surrounded here by two of her friends: to her right, a fellow painter shares a knowing glance with her, whilst on the leather sofa, their model takes her place to complete this trio united by trust.
The female nude?
By choosing the female nude to illustrate the theme of ‘Artistic Friendships’, Valaine de Ranson strips away the filters of everyday life to celebrate pure intimacy. Moreover, the light streaming through the skylight sculpts the bodies and warms the atmosphere of this creative sanctuary. Thus, a sense of camaraderie is evident in every brushstroke, pulsing with humanity and providing the perfect opening to our group exhibition.
🗿 Ayla Woss – The dancer and the concert musician
Bronze
The dialogue between the arts is beautifully brought to life in this bronze sculpture by Ayla Woss. In this vibrant work, the artist sought to highlight the natural affinity and complementarity that unite two creative worlds: those of dance and music.
First and foremost, the dancer appears before us unadorned, presented without any embellishment, in her purest form, since her own body is her sole means of expression. Echoing this, the concert pianist, though draped in her stage attire and wholly devoted to her invisible instrument, is revealed to be just as deeply moved by the melody that carries them both.
A single vibration?
And so the two figures embrace in a shared moment of connection, demonstrating that artistic friendship transcends disciplines to form a single, unified vibration. A work that resonates perfectly with the spirit of our group exhibition in June.
🎨 Tupsa Katsiaryna Viatcheslavet – Les trois arts
Painting
Following on almost directly from Ayla Woss’s sculpture, Tupsa Katsiaryna Viatcheslavet’s painting stands out as a vibrant and colourful celebration of the dialogue between disciplines. Through this exuberant composition, the artist brings to life the unbreakable bond between literature, painting and dance in a burst of pure creative joy.
In the face of pressure from industry?
Indeed, this work resonates deeply with Tupsa’s philosophy of life. Faced with the pressures of the industrial world and the rapid pace of new technologies, the artist chooses to resist by cultivating passionate correspondence with her creative friends. This need for human reconnection is thus expressed on the canvas: we discover three female figures—including a sublime nude embodying raw physical expression and dance—united amidst folkloric elements, books and musical instruments.
Moreover, the scene’s rich palette and dreamlike quality perfectly capture the essence of contemporary neo-folklorism. Ultimately, this work is a hymn to sisterhood and the restorative pace of intellectual exchange, providing an essential cornerstone for our June theme.
🎨 Hugo Eckener – Portrait of Baroness Von Baste
Acrylic paint
To bring this immersive journey to a close, the gallery has the immense honour of presenting a deeply personal work: the portrait of Baroness Artemis Irenäus von Baste, painted by Hugo Eckener. Through this luminous acrylic on canvas, the artist sought to visually capture the unbreakable bonds and camaraderie that unite the gallery’s collective.
Although this portrait was painted from a photograph, Hugo Eckener masterfully transcends mere technical reproduction. Indeed, he succeeds in capturing, with deeply moving accuracy, the very essence and personality of Artemis Irenäus, herself an accomplished painter. Only the keen and sympathetic eye of an artist-friend could capture such truth in expression, magnified by a striking interplay of contrasts between the vibrancy of the fabrics and the serenity of her gaze.
A promise?
In this way, this single work encapsulates the promise of our June exhibition. Ultimately, it demonstrates that art is not merely a matter of technique, but above all a story of human connections and mutual admiration.
