“We are family”, by the German artist Gisela Kentmann.

The Visual Tales of a Storyteller

After a three-year absence, Galerie Koronin has the immense privilege of celebrating the return of Gisela Kentmann. This exceptional visual artist returns to illuminate our pages with brand-new, unpublished works. Her universe, where poetry meets the marvelous, fits beautifully into our current theme of “artist novels.” Let us discover together the secrets of her canvases, which read like fairy tales.

An Academic Background at the Service of Art

First, the work of Gisela Kentmann feeds on a solid training and a deep cultural anchoring. Born in 1951 in Speyer, Germany, the independent visual artist lives and creates today between Mainz and Worms, in the Rhineland-Palatinate region. Indeed, her university background combines the study of Fine Arts, museum education, and Romance languages.

In addition, her professional life bears witness to a constant commitment to cultural transmission. A recognized freelance worker at the Mittelrheinisches Landesmuseum in Mainz as well as at the Kunsthaus Heylshof  Museum in Worms, she also shared her passion as an art and French teacher. Subsequently, in 2015, her rich expertise earned her an appointment as a Fine Arts consultant for the schools of the Rheinhessen Pfalz district government.

Between Fairy Tales and Visual Creation

Yet, beyond her academic distinctions, it is her sensitivity as a storyteller that enlivens her artistic approach. As you will discover, Gisela Kentmann loves to revive traditional fairy tales in public, within historic castles and gardens. Furthermore, this dual practice as a storyteller and poetess transforms her canvases into true visual narratives.

Consequently, her new creations invite us to a poetic reading where the past and the marvelous dialogue with our time. Every brushstroke becomes a sentence, every color an emotion, offering viewers a journey out of time.

Discovering the New Works of Gisela Kentmann

To mark this long-awaited return, the Koronin Gallery is presenting two significant works by the artist. A winged seahorse, adorned with fiery golden lines, appears to be guiding other mythical creatures through the depths of an abyssal blue. Likewise, a majestic owl, a symbol of wisdom and nocturnal mystery. The striking contrast between the turquoise tones and the copper-coloured contours creates an enchanted forest.

When viewing these paintings, one immediately appreciates the narrative power that characterises the work of Gisela Kentmann. We warmly invite you to admire these visual narratives and let yourself be swept away by the magic of her brush.
