Artemis Irenäus von Baste
Artemis Irenäus von Baste born and lives in Switzerland. She met the painter Philippe Morin ( Estavayer Lake 1999 and comes to Paris to follow some of its visual arts studies, particularly with a move to the National School of Fine Arts (ENSBA).
A different workshop with its director about instead of drawing in contemporary art led her to study with Koronin back.
She founded and directs the club Alumni of private higher education institution Koronin (initial and ongoing training, contest preparation of major art schools), until in 2012.
Graphic designer, but also ballet dancer, passionate aeronautics, Artemis Irenäus von Baste pursues a plastic approach that emphasizes the act of representation of visible phenomena rather than a description.
Through drawing with brushes in one saturated color laid on a white paper, it seeks to present the impressions of his psychological reality – also linked to its experiences in psychoanalysis – as alive as possible. His strokes of brushes and brushes, mediums with water (gouache, acrylic, tempera dry) notes the essential perceives his sight and prunes accessory elements.
Boats and bridges out of place
Do not seek the world in my paintings. Seek my world within them, the one that weaves itself in the spaces between the real and the imagined, where each brushstroke becomes an intimate declaration of what I am.
I do not see painting as mere reproduction, but as an invitation to see differently, to breathe a different air. My brushstroke moves away from copying and towards the act of pure creation, where space bends and is reinvented, far from the constraints of the visible. Every sketch, every drawing I bring into the studio becomes a fragment of another world, a puzzle where the pieces meet without knowing each other, yet a harmony is born.
My art is often born at the banks of the Seine, on the Parisian quays, where the wind, the old stones, and the murmurs of the boats speak to me in silence. These scenes overwhelm me, these images stir me, and I take them back to my studio, like one brings back a precious memory, to offer them another journey. The boats from Île de Ré and Port du Collet, for example, blend with the bustle of the Parisian quays. Echoes of other places, other times. And so, the sea invades the heart of the city, and Paris becomes a landscape of dreams.
Every stroke of paint becomes a breath of romance, a flash of light in the fog of the ordinary.
Figurative art to represent myself ?
But there are also these self-portraits, these fragments of myself that I let appear on the canvas. These images of my own soul, infinitely small yet infinitely vast, like inner landscapes. It is in this precise moment that I reveal myself, that I invite you to see me without veil, without detour. The self-portrait is an act of birth, of revelation. It is the only moment when I allow myself to show you who I am, to share with you the sanctuary of my being.
And in every instant, my painting dances to the rhythm of a secret melody, a music that pulses deep within me, guiding me, carrying me. The canvas then becomes my music box, where each color is a note, each shadow a chord, and each brushstroke a heartbeat.
An intimate breath that, I hope, resonates in you.
