Gisela Kentmann
An academic career dedicated to art
Firstly, Gisela’s work draws on a solid educational background and deep cultural roots. Born in 1951 in Speyer, Germany, the independent visual artist now lives and works between Mainz and Worms, in the Rhineland-Palatinate region. Indeed, her academic background combines the study of Fine Arts, museum education and Romance languages.
Furthermore, her professional career reflects a constant commitment to cultural transmission. A recognised freelance consultant at the Mittelrheinisches Landesmuseum in Mainz and the Kunsthaus Heylshof in Worms, she has also shared her passion as a teacher of art and French. Subsequently, in 2015, her extensive expertise led to her appointment as a Fine Arts consultant for the schools of the district government of Rheinhessen-Pfalz.
Between fairy tales and visual art
Yet, beyond her academic accolades, it is her instinct as a storyteller that drives her artistic approach. As you will discover, Gisela loves to bring traditional fairy tales to life in front of an audience, in historic castles and gardens.
Thus, her dual role as a storyteller and poet transforms her canvases into true visual narratives. Consequently, her return to our pages fits perfectly with our theme of ‘artists’ novels’. Her new works invite us to engage in a poetic interpretation where the past and the fantastical enter into a dialogue with our own era.
