A painting as a place of refuge

In her works, nature is not merely a backdrop. It becomes a living, almost sacred space, in which every element seems to be imbued with a quiet presence.
His paintings, bathed in sunlight, depict lush gardens.
Sparkling ponds, water lilies, and brightly coloured flowers: everything contributes to creating a dreamlike, timeless atmosphere.
A free and serene femininity
At the heart of this universe, the female figure occupies a central place.
The artist paints women in moments of tranquillity, freedom and contemplation. They are not posing: they simply exist.
This creates a subtle harmony between the body and the surrounding nature. The woman does not dominate the landscape. She is part of it. She finds a kind of balance within it, almost as a matter of course.
A dialogue between the ages
Behind this apparent gentleness, however, lies a deeper meaning.
Tupsa Katsiaryna Viatcheslav plays with different temporal planes.
In a stage design reminiscent of traditional Slavic fairy tales, she incorporates contemporary elements. For instance, a colourful air mattress serves as a backdrop for a finely embroidered costume. This contrast never feels ironic; it is delicate, almost mischievous.
The artist does not seek to contrast the eras. Instead, she brings them into dialogue with one another.
An aesthetic that lies somewhere between painting and illustration?
The work of Tupsa Katsiaryna Viatcheslav lies at the intersection of several visual art forms.
Straddling the worlds of painting and illustration, her style is characterised by a distinctive sense of freedom.
In this artist’s work, the forms are clearly recognisable, the colours are vibrant, and the composition is carefully thought out. This unique approach gives his work a strong identity that is immediately recognisable.
A patient encounter
As you may recall, our meeting with the artist took place in 2024 during a stay in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme.
It was love at first sight. And yet it took almost two years of dialogue before Tupsa Katsiaryna Viatcheslav agreed to join the gallery. The artist had her doubts. She questioned how her work would be received, the place of her style, and certain experiences from the past, particularly in relation to the representation of the body.
Given this indecision, our response at the time was quite simple:
« Let’s just give it a go. »
