An order by the municipality.

This week, our visual artist Marie Isabelle sends a long article to the Art gallery.

Marie Isabelle.
“This summer 2024, I produced a signage project free of charge in preparation for the Mise En Scène 2025. The brief was to create a 6-metre-high, 1-metre-wide coated white tarpaulin and add my artistic touch to it to decorate a directional sign. I proposed a 2-metre section representing a wave in ultramarine blue acrylic with black POSCA outlines in a modernised Hokusai style. I had also planned to include moving sea anemones, corals, a sea urchin and shells in colours that could be seen from afar: indigo, pure yellow and vermilion in acrylic paint and POSCA.

The touch most appreciated by readers: an octopus at the foot of the fresco in a pretty orange that can be seen from afar. It was the very first time I had worked on such a large support and with such a material.

On the afternoon of Thursday 19 September, my work was exhibited to the public for the first time. Finally, on 28 September, my work was appreciated by over a hundred visitors who came to Biblis en folie. I’ve received positive feedback from readers and I’m delighted with that.

Finally, I think of Maître Koronin and my mother, who also exhibited their paintings in Paris at the Grand Palais and at Côtés events. I may not have their prestige, but I hope they’re already proud of me!”
