As you may have read in previous articles on our art gallery’s blog, Vestara Psod and Artemis Irenäus von Baste regularly share their studios.
A fruitful artistic partnership
Whether staying at one another’s homes or spending weekends together, the complementary nature of their artistic approaches enriches each other. This friendship, born of an unexpected encounter, now allows a return to the very essence of the figurative artist: the art of representing others.
Recently, Vestara posed for Artemis Irenäus. This session resulted in an imposing oil painting that retains the freshness of a sketch. As we like to remind ourselves here, paraphrasing Sacha Guitry:
“A sketch is not the beginning of a masterpiece, it is its completion.”
A duo that becomes a trio in Chur
Last week, Vestara invited Artemis Irenäus to create her portrait. But the adventure doesn’t end there. By 18 January, artist Valaine de Ranson will join the duo in Chur, transforming this collaboration into a trio.
Preparations are well underway: the frames are assembled and the canvas is finished. Our three artists will reveal the central theme of this artistic gathering at the end of the month.
Upcoming new additions to the gallery
In addition, Artemis Irenäus will soon be presenting a self-portrait reconstructed from sketches — a large-format oil painting on canvas. The art gallery will be delighted to showcase these new works very soon, while eagerly awaiting the next sculptures by Ayla Woss.
